Advanced Pressbooks & Active Learning

Advanced Pressbooks & Active Learning Online

In this session, we’ll build on learning from the “Intro to Pressbooks” workshop to learn how to integrate interactive content into Pressbooks web books. We’ll also dive into some more advanced tools that will allow you to customize books created on Pressbooks.

Pressbooks allows users to seamlessly integrate the web annotation tool Hypothesis and the interactive activity tool H5P into Pressbooks books. These tools allow authors to promote active learning in their books and facilitate student discussion. Pressbooks and the interactive tools it supports allow authors to create non-traditional educational materials like interactive galleries. Students can be involved in the creation of Pressbooks content, by contributing chapters, videos, or participating in discussions. In this workshop you’ll use Pressbooks to create an interactive activity yourself and get hands-on experience using the tools we discuss.

This workshop will be held virtually via Zoom and pre-registration is required so that we can create your Pressbooks account ahead of time.
