How to Create OER at UO: Introduction to Pressbooks

How to Create OER at UO: Introduction to Pressbooks Online

Are you interested in publishing or adapting an open textbook for your course? Attend this one-hour workshop to learn about the University of Oregon Libraries’ pilot of an open textbook publishing platform, Pressbooks. We will also cover some of the basics of OER creation and the OER funding and support available to you at UO.

Pressbooks allows faculty to easily create many types of accessible course materials, like textbooks and course modules, and publish them as webbooks, PDFs and eBooks (EPUB). With Pressbooks, faculty can adapt, revise and append to openly licensed textbooks, courseware and academic content. Authors can use Pressbooks to create books, course modules, handbooks, annotated collections of primary sources, and more.

Participants will leave this workshop with a basic understanding of what you can make with Pressbooks and the ability to start creating materials using Pressbooks. To see examples of the kinds of projects participant will learn how to create by attending this workshop, check out the Pressbooks Directory.

This workshop will be held virtually via Zoom and pre-registration is required.
