An Introduction to Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

An Introduction to Optical Character Recognition (OCR) In-Person

In this hour-long workshop, learners will explore what OCR looks like and practice editing it by hand ("cleaning") in order to make it more accurate. Using the Historic Oregon Newspapers digital repository, learners will interact with OCR text and get hands-on experience with increasing its accuracy. Come learn about this method of digitization, and be ready with questions about your current or future digital project.

This workship will be taught by Lei Lynn, UO Libraries Digital Scholarship Services Intern
