GitHub Desktop: Collaborative Coding for Beginners In-Person

Learn the basics of the version control software Git through the GitHub Desktop app in this interactive workshop. This workshop is intended for audiences with an interest in GitHub, the open-source software ecosystem, or software development, but no prior experience with Git or knowledge of a specific programming language will be assumed.

Skills covered include:

  • Why version control?
  • GitHub as a platform
  • Git: pull, commit, push, repeat
  • Software development principles
  • Basic Git workflows

Please bring a laptop with GitHub Desktop installed. This workshop is in-person only; tea and snack breaks will be provided.
