Douglas Room Album Listening Sessions In-Person

Remember when an album was meant to be heard all the way through, start to finish? The Douglass Room Album Listening Sessions bring that back. Each week we gather in Knight Library's Douglass Room to hear a classic album in full, played on vinyl from the library's own collection through a high-fidelity stereo system. Every session opens with a short introduction to the record: the artists, where it came from, and the people behind the sound, from legendary producers to recording engineers. Then we sit back and listen together. The series spans a wide range of music. Jazz and fusion sit at its core, alongside funk, soul, world music, progressive rock, film soundtracks, and experimental composition. Some albums may be old favorites and others brand-new discoveries. Either way, you'll hear them the way they were meant to be heard. No musical background is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to listen. Sessions are free and open to all UO students, faculty, and staff, and community members. Drop in for one album or make it part of your weekly routine.
