Surface Mount FM Radio Workshop

Surface Mount FM Radio Workshop In-Person

In this workshop patrons will learn the technique of surface mount soldering, a technique very different than standard soldering.  Surface mount soldering is used to make very small circuit boards.  In the process, patrons will build a tuneable AM/FM radio.  Surface mount soldering requires the use of tweezers to hold very small components, smaller than a grain of rice, that need to be placed in the appropriate spot on the circuit board. The use of tweezers can be challenging. Once the components are placed, the board is baked in an oven for a couple of minutes soldering the components in the location and creating the finished radio.
